Join me to learn how your yoga practice can support you in the healthy expression and regulation of your emotions. If you ever struggle with anger, anxiety or depression, this workshop will provide tangible tools for responding differently in the most challenging moments, and for improving your emotional wellbeing over time.
From a yogic perspective, there are essentially no “negative emotions.” Emotions are a gift to us from our own nature to protect our wellbeing, each one with an important and unique purpose. When emotions are not suppressed, but carefully expressed, they arise and dissipate naturally in a short period of time without causing hurt to anyone around us. They serve their purpose of protecting us and catalyzing change in our lives, helping us to maintain alignment between our intentions and our actions. In this sense, even anger, grief and anxiety are positive emotions.
Through movement, breathwork, journaling and pair-sharing, as well as a slideshow presentation on the relationship of feelings to the five elements, we will explore our most common emotional “orbits” and trace new neural pathways toward the healthy expression of our feelings.
